Finding Functional Windows

When I decided to upgrade my house, I realized that it might be wise to invest in high-end windows. In my first home, I bought cheap windows, which created drafts and made it hard to clean. Fortunately, by the time I became a second-time homeowner, I knew what to look for. I looked for windows with ultra violet light protection, tilt and swing cleaning features, and a hydrophobic coating that would repel water. You wouldn't believe the difference it made. Check out this website to learn more about windows and the features that can simplify your life each and every day.

Five Things To Remember When You Clean Your Vinyl Windows

One of the most important things you need to do in order to keep your vinyl windows adequately maintained is to wash them regularly. Cleaning vinyl windows will not only improve their appearance but also maximize their longevity. The following are five things you'll want to keep in mind for the best possible results when cleaning your windows:

You should start by rinsing away any residue and debris.

The first step to giving your vinyl windows a thorough cleaning is to remove any built up residue. This can be done by simply rinsing windows off using clean water. It's important to be gentle during this rinsing to make sure that you don't accidentally scratch your windows. One thing you should never do is wipe a window surface without first rinsing it because this could push debris into the window and cause scratches.

You shouldn't use a detergent soap to do your cleaning.

You want to use a gentle soap on your windows and want to avoid using detergent soaps. The perfect mixture for washing vinyl windows will be a non-detergent soap mixed together with a good quantity of warm water. You should always avoid putting any soaps that contain ammonia or alcohol on your windows. Washing your vinyl windows with such substances could potentially void any warranty you have on your windows.

A microfiber towel is effective at wiping down window surfaces.

You should look for a microfiber towel to handle your vinyl window cleaning. This type of towel will be both gentle and effective with vinyl windows. On the other hand, you never want to use sponges or paper towels for vinyl windows because they can be too abrasive.

You can get into recessed areas using a vacuum.

If there are recesses and crevices in your windows, it might be hard to get your cloth down into them for cleaning. However, you may be able to use a vacuum cleaner to remove any debris and residue from within hard-to-reach crevices.

Drying the window surface afterward will help to prevent streaks.

Your windows might look worse after cleaning than they did beforehand if you don't dry your windows after washing them. Wet windows that are left to air dry are likely to develop noticeable streaks that will make them appear dirty. You can dry windows after washing by wiping them with a cloth made from a soft and absorbent material.
